Did I mention I saw a Focus RS? Because I saw a Focus RS. It had a manual and was glorious. I want one very badly.

Yesssssssssssssssssss. I want one too. In white, just like this. With no options, just the “stripper” model. The standard equipment is plenty for me.

Isn’t it ONLY available with a manual? I would love to see a dual clutch - would make it an instant buy for me. #toomuchtraffic

Ford doesn’t put automatics or DCTs in their small performance cars - STs and RSs only get 6-speed manuals.

Part of it is because they don’t have a decent DCT in this size range yet, part of it is reliability, and part of it is because racecar.

Man, DCT is more racecar than a manual. Ferrari, Lamborghini, rally cars - all without a manual clutch (well, rally usually a dog box but the point stands).

Supercars are very rarely raced, they use DCTs because they need to sell to rich people that only want the cars as status symbols, plus they want to market 0-60 times.

In any case, manuals are preferred by a large portion of enthusiasts and the technical reasons still stand. They seem to sell quite well, too, bumping the manual take rates in their respective classes, which is no small feat.

It looked like it had the ST2 package with the upgraded and accented Recaros, but there's not a ton of options on it anyway. I'd have mine in either nitrous blue or black though. Or that awesome green from the last-gen Euro model, if they offered it.
